Troubleshooting

Cannot capture this page

Chrome and Edge restrict extensions from capturing certain protected pages by design. If the tab shows a chrome://, edge://, chrome-extension://, edge-extension://, devtools://, or about: URL — or a browser web store or extension store page — capture is prevented at the browser level.

Navigate to any regular website and Snipetic will work as expected. This restriction applies to all browser extensions and both the Chrome and Edge editions of Snipetic.

Full-page capture looks wrong

Some pages use non-standard scrolling, aggressive lazy loading, or JavaScript that repositions elements mid-capture. Snipetic pre-scrolls the page before starting to trigger lazy content and pauses CSS animations, but a small number of sites work around this.

If the output has gaps or doubled content, try Select Area mode — it gives you precise control over what gets captured and is more reliable on highly dynamic pages. If a specific site consistently produces bad output, email us the URL and which mode you used. We investigate and improve handling for real-world sites.

Snipetic for Chrome

Is Snipetic for Chrome free?

Yes. Snipetic for Chrome is offered as a free edition with no paid tier, no checkout, and no subscription. All features available in the Chrome version are free with no time limit.

Does the Chrome version include Pro?

No. Snipetic Pro is not available in the Chrome edition. The Chrome version includes the full set of free-tier features and does not include Pro-only tools such as arrow annotations, blur, redact, ruler, font analyzer, scroll container capture, or browser frame mockup. Optional Pro with advanced tools is available in Snipetic for Microsoft Edge.

Does Chrome use checkout, trial activation, or license checks?

No. The Chrome edition does not include checkout flows, trial activation, license-status checks, or any calls to payment or license APIs. There is no trial countdown and no license key field. It is a clean free build with no connection to any payment or subscription system.

Why are features different between Chrome and Edge?

Snipetic for Edge includes an optional paid Pro tier with advanced tools. Snipetic for Chrome is a free-only release. The core capture and design tools are available in both versions.

Are there pages Snipetic for Chrome cannot capture?

Yes. Chrome restricts extensions from capturing browser system pages such as chrome://, chrome-extension://, devtools://, browser web stores, and other protected browser-controlled surfaces. This applies to all Chrome extensions, not just Snipetic. Navigate to any regular website and captures will work as expected.

What features are included in Snipetic for Chrome?

Pro & License

Free trial explained

The 7-day Pro trial is available in Snipetic for Microsoft Edge only. Every new Edge install gets 7 days of full Pro access with no credit card required. The countdown shows in the extension popup. When the trial ends, the extension drops to the free tier automatically. Free-tier features — all four capture modes, core annotation tools (pen, shapes, text, highlight, eyedropper), crop and resize, and PNG/PDF export — remain available with no time limit.

Snipetic for Chrome does not include a trial period. The Chrome edition is free with no upgrade path.

Activate Pro license

Pro licenses are available in Snipetic for Microsoft Edge only. Open the Edge extension, click the gear icon to open Settings, and paste your license key into the License field. Click Activate. Pro features unlock immediately across the popup and viewer tab.

If activation fails, check that the key hasn't already been used on 3 devices simultaneously. Deactivate one existing device first to free up a slot.

Move license to a new device

On the device you want to free up, open Settings and click Deactivate on this device. Then activate the key on your new machine. Each Pro license supports up to 3 active devices at a time.

Annotations & Export

Annotations not included in export

Snipetic for Microsoft Edge: Exporting PNG and PDF with annotations requires Pro. On the free tier, exports include the screenshot only — a notice appears in the viewer. Upgrade to Pro or use your 7-day trial to export annotated screenshots. The screenshot itself is always exported in full quality regardless of tier.

Snipetic for Chrome: The Chrome edition exports screenshots without annotations. There is no paid upgrade path in the Chrome version. The screenshot is always exported in full quality.
