The short version

Snipetic does not collect, transmit, or share any data. Everything stays on your device.

What we store and where

Snipetic stores data exclusively in your browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local). This storage is on your device and is never sent anywhere.

Screenshots you capture are held temporarily in local storage while the viewer tab is open, then discarded. Your preferences (delay setting, dark mode state) and Pro license key are stored persistently in local storage. No data is ever written to any server, database, or third-party service.

Snipetic does not collect or store your browsing history, the URLs of pages you visit, or the content of pages you capture beyond what you explicitly choose to screenshot and view in the viewer.

Permissions and why we need them

activeTab / tabs — to capture the current tab's screenshot when you trigger a capture.

scripting — to inject the in-page tools (ruler, font analyzer, element picker, etc.) into the page you're inspecting.

storage / unlimitedStorage — to hold screenshots locally between the capture and the viewer tab opening.

webNavigation — to re-apply Forced Dark Mode after page navigations.

offscreen — to stitch full-page screenshots together without hitting service worker memory limits.

host_permissions (<all_urls>) — required for the above features to work on any page you choose to capture or inspect.

What we do not do

We do not collect analytics, crash reports, or usage data. We do not use any third-party SDKs or tracking libraries. We do not transmit screenshots or any page content to a server. We do not read your browsing history.

We do not sell user data. We do not transfer or share user data with advertising platforms, data brokers, or any other third parties. User data is never used for personalized advertising.

Third-party services

Snipetic's UI loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com). When an extension page opens, your browser makes a standard HTTPS request to Google's servers to download the font files. Google may log your IP address as part of that request. No other data is sent. Google's privacy policy governs those requests: policies.google.com/privacy.

Pro license

If you purchase a Pro license, your license key is stored locally in chrome.storage.local. License validation is performed against LemonSqueezy's API at activation time and periodically in the background to confirm the subscription is still active. No other data is sent during validation.
